कल जब मैं गुलजार साहब का लिखा गीत ‘जब एक कज़ा से गुजरो तो इक और कज़ा मिल जाती है’ सुन रहा था कि कवि-आलोचक विष्णु खरे का यह पत्र ईमेल में प्राप्त हुआ. इन दिनों वे स्लोवाकिया की राजधानी ब्रातिस्लावा में प्रवास पर हैं. उन्होंने इस पत्र को प्रकाशित करने के लिए कहा इसलिए आपके लिए प्रस्तुत कर रहा हूं- जानकी पुल.

भाई,
अभी स्लोवाकिया की राजधानी ब्रातिस्लावा के तकनीकी विश्वविद्यालय अतिथि-गृह में ठहरा हुआ हूँ जहां कमरे में इंटरनेट नहीं है – एक साहित्यिक कैफे में बैठकर मेल और ब्लॉग वगैरह देख पाता हूँ।मेरी टिप्पणी को लेकर जो बहुमुखी विवाद छिड़ा हुआ है उसके सारे मोर्चों पर लड़ना अभी पूर्णतः संभव नहीं है।एक फरवरी को अम्स्तर्दम पहुंचूंगा जहाँ कमरे में वाइ-फ़ाइ होगा और प्रिंटर की सुविधा भी।बात यह है कि पूरे टैक्स्ट सामने रखे बिना छिटपुट प्रत्युत्तर देना ठीक नहीं समझता।फिर भी आग्नेय की टिप्पणी का उत्तर तैयार किया है,उसे भेजूंगा।शायद उसमें कुछ को-लैटरल डैमेज भी हो।
रघुवीर सहाय की एक पंक्ति है : “केन्द्रीय रिज़र्व पुलिस भारत की एकता”.लगता है उसकी तर्ज़ पर मैं हिंदी साहित्य की एकता हो गया हूँ।यह तो कुछ-कुछ पंचतंत्र की कथा वाले ऊँट पर गधा और गधे पर सियार के आयाम धारण करता नज़र आ रहा है।
फिलहाल सिर्फ यह तीन बातें :
1. मैं हर व्यक्ति को अधिकृत करता हूँ कि वह वाणी प्रकाशन से पूछ कर सार्वजनिक करे कि मैंने उनके कितने लाख रुपयों का देनदार हूँ।भाई अरुण महेश्वरी,जो भी आपसे यह जानकारी मांगे,कृपया उसे पूरे ब्योरों के साथ दें।
2. लिख चुका हूँ लेकिन फिर दुहराता हूँ – मैं आज तक किसी भी,कैसे भी निमंत्रण पर या अपने पैसे से भी अमेरिका नहीं गया।
3. परिवार पुरस्कार पर,जो इस वर्ष मेरे प्रिय तथा शीर्षस्थ कवि विनोदकुमार शुक्ल को ही दिया गया है,मैं बहुत लिख चुका हूँ।

इस पत्र में विष्णु जी केवल अपने समर्थन में आने वाले उत्तरों के मुद्दों का हवाला और सफ़ाई देने का प्रयास दिया है इनसे अधिक जरूरी अपने द्वारा लगाए उन आरोपों से कन्नी काट गए है जो उन्हें और उनकी वैचारिक विश्वसनीयता को हमेशा कटघरे मं खड़े करते रहे हैं
