२०११ में अज्ञेय की जन्म-शताब्दी है. इसी को ध्यान में रखते हुए सस्ता साहित्य मंडल प्रकाशन ने अज्ञेय संपादित एक पुस्तक ‘पुष्करिणी’ को फिर से प्रकाशित किया है. १९५३ में प्रकाशित इस पुस्तक का ऐतिहासिक महत्व है. अज्ञेय का यह मानना था कि स्कूल-कॉलेजों के पाठ्यक्रमों को ध्यान में रखकर ही कविता के संचयन क्यों तैयार किए जाएँ? ऐसे संचयन आम पाठकों को ध्यान में रखकर भी तैयार किए जाने चाहिए ताकि आधुनिक कविता-धारा से उसका जुड़ाव हो सके. इसी बात को ध्यान में रखकर उन्होंने ‘पुष्करिणी’ का संपादन किया, जिसमें मैथिलीशरण गुप्त, माखनलाल चतुर्वेदी, सियारामशरण गुप्त, दिनकर, प्रसाद, निराला, पन्त और महादेवी वर्मा की वैसी कविताएँ उन्होंने शामिल की जों उन्हें पसंद थीं.
कल यानी २३ सितम्बर को राष्ट्रकवि रामधारी सिंह दिनकर की जयन्ती है इसलिए इस अवसर पर अज्ञेय की पसंद की कुछ दिनकर-कविताएँ प्रस्तुत हैं. ‘पुष्करिणी’ से–
१. क्यों लिखते हो?
तुम क्यों लिखते हो? क्या अपने अंतरतम को
औरों के अंतरतम के साथ मिलाने को?
अथवा शब्दों की तह पर पोशाक पहन
जग की आँखों से अपना रूप छिपाने को?
यदि छिपा चाहते हो दुनिया की आँखों से
तब तो मेरे भाई! तुमने यह बुरा किया.
है किसे फिक्र कि यहाँ कौन क्या लाया है?
तुमने ही क्यों अपने को अदभुत मान लिया?
कहनेवाले जाने क्या-क्या कहते आए,
सुनने वालों ने मगर कहो क्या पाया है?
मथ रही मनुज को जो अनंत जिज्ञासाएं,
उत्तर क्या उनका कभी जगत में आया है?
अच्छा बोलो, आदमी एक मैं भी ठहरा,
अम्बर से मेरे लिए चीज़ क्या लाए हो?
मिटटी पर हूँ मैं खड़ा ज़रा नीचे देखो,
ऊपर क्या है जिस पर टकटकी लगाए हो?
तारों में है संकेत? चाँदनी में छाया?
बस यही बात हो गई सदा दुहराने की?
सनसनी, फेन, बुदबुद, सब कुछ सोपान बना,
अच्छी निकली यह राह सत्य तक जाने की.
दावा करते हैं शब्द जिसे छू लेने का,
क्या कभी उसे तुमने देखा या जाना है?
तुतले कंपन उठते हैं जिस गहराई से,
अपने भीतर क्या कभी उसे पहचाना है?
जो कुछ खुलता सामने, समस्या है केवल,
असली निदान पर जड़े वज्र के ताले हैं,
उत्तर शायद हो छिपा मूकता के भीतर
हम तो प्रश्नों का रूप सजाने वाले हैं.
तब क्यों रचते हो वृथा स्वांग मानो सारा,
आकाश और पाताल तुम्हारे कर में हों?
मानो मनुष्य नीचे हो तुमसे बहुत दूर,
मानो कोई देवता तुम्हारे स्वर में हो.
मिहिका रचते हो? रचो; किन्तु क्या फल इसका?
खुलने की जोखिम से वह तुम्हें बचाती है?
लेकिन मनुष्य की आभा और सघन होती,
धरती की किस्मत और भरमती जाती है.
धो डालो फूलों का पराग गालों पर से,
आनन पर से यह आनन अपर हटाओ तो
कितने पानी में हो? इसको जग भी देखे,
तुम पल भर को केवल मनुष्य बन जाओ तो.
सच्चाई की पहचान कि पानी साफ़ रहे
जो भी चाहे, ले परख जलाशय के तल को.
गहराई का वे भेद छिपाते हैं केवल
जो जान बूझ गंदला करते अपने जल को.
२. मिथिला
मैं पतझड़ की कोयल उदास
बिखरे वैभव की रानी हूँ,
मैं हरी-भरी हिम शैल तटी
की विस्मृत स्वप्न कहानी हूँ.
अपनी माँ की मैं वाम भृकुटी
गरिमा की हूँ धूमिल छाया,
मैं विकल सांध्य रागिनी करूं
मैं मुरझी सुषमा की माया.
मैं क्षीण प्रभा, मैं हट आभा
सम्प्रति भिखारिणी मतवाली,
खंडहर में खोज रही अपने
उजड़े सुहाग की हूँ लाली.
मैं जनक कपिल की पुण्य जननी
मेरे पुत्रों का महाज्ञान,
मेरी सीता ने दिया विश्व
की रमणी का आदर्श दान.
मैं वैशाली के आस-पास
बैठी नित खंडहर में अजान,
सुनती हूँ साश्रु नयन अपने
लिच्छवी-वीरों के कीर्ति-गान.
नीरव निशि में गंडकी विमल
कर देती मेरे विकल प्राण,
मैं खड़ी तीर पर सुनती हूँ
विद्यापति कवि के मधुर गान.
नीलम घन गरज-गरज बरसें
रिमझिम रिमझिम रिमझिम अथोर,
लहरें गाती हैं मधुविहाग
‘हे हे सखी, हमर दुखक न ओर.’
चांदनी-बीच धनखेतों में
हरियाली बन लहराती हूँ,
आती कुछ सुधि, पगली दौड़ी
मैं कपिलवस्तु को जाती हूँ.
बिखरे लट आंसू छलक रहे
मैं फिरती हूँ मारी-मारी,
कण-कण में खोज रही अपनी
खोई अनंत निधियां सारी.
मैं उजड़े उपवन की मालिन
उठती मेरे हिय विषम हूक,
कोकिला नहीं, इस कुंज बीच
रह रह अतीत सुध रही कूक.
मैं पतझड़ की कोयल उदास
बिखरे वैभव की रानी हूँ,
मैं हरी-भरी हिमशैल तटी
की विस्मृत स्वप्न कहानी हूँ.
३. गीत-अगीत
गीत, अगीत, कौन सुंदर है?
(१)
गाकर गीत विरह की तटिनी
वेगवती बहती जाती है,
दिल हलका कर लेने को
उपलों से कुछ कहती जाती है।
तट पर एक गुलाब सोचता–
“देते स्वर यदि मुझे विधाता,
अपने पतझर के सपनों का
मैं भी जग को गीत सुनाता।”
गा-गाकर बह रही निर्झरी,
पाटल मूक खड़ा तट पर है।
गीत, अगीत, कौन सुंदर है?
(२)
बैठा शुक उस घनी डाल पर
जो खोंते पर छाया देती।
पंख फुला नीचे खोंते में
शुकी बैठ अंडे है सेती।
गाता शुक जब किरण वसंती
छूती अंग पर्ण से छनकर।
किंतु, शुकी के गीत उमड़कर
रह जाते स्नेह में सनकर।
गूँज रहा शुक का स्वर वन में,
फूला मग्न शुकी का पर है।
गीत, अगीत, कौन सुंदर है?
(३)
दो प्रेमी हैं यहाँ, एक जब
बड़े साँझ आल्हा गाता है,
पहला स्वर उसकी राधा को
घर से यहाँ खींच लाता है।
चोरी-चोरी खड़ी नीम की
छाया में छिपकर सुनती है,
‘हुई न क्यों मैं कड़ी गीत की
विधना, यों मन में गुनती है।
वह गाता, पर किसी वेग से
फूल रहा इसका अंतर है।
गीत, अगीत, कौन सुन्दर है?
(४) भाइयों और बहनों
लो शोणित, कुछ नहीं अगर
यह आंसू और पसीना!
सपने ही जब धधक उठें
तब धरती पर क्या जीना?
सुखी रहो, दे सका नहीं मैं
जो-कुछ रो-समझाकर,
मिले कभी वह तुम्हें भाइयो
बहनों! मुझे गंवाकर!
