‘वीर तुम बढे चलो’ और ‘हल्दी घाटी’ के कवि श्याम नारायण पांडे की कविताओं की एक जमाने में मंचों पर धूम थी. उनके गाँव जाकर उनको याद करते हुए एक बेहद आत्मीय लेख लिखा है प्रसिद्द कवि बुद्धिनाथ मिश्र ने- जानकी पुल.

मऊ नाथ भंजन नगर जब आजमगढ़ जनपद का हिस्सा था, तब अनेकों बार यहाँ मैं आया था । आज इसका स्टेशन बहुत बदल चुका है । सुना है कि अब यह जंक्शनटर्मिनल बननेवाला है,जहाँ से नई गाड़ियाँ चला
करेंगी । वस्त्र निर्माण की दृष्टि से यह नगर पहले भी नामी था, आज भी । वीर रस के महाकवि पंडित श्याम नारायण पाण्डेय इसी नगर के पास डुमराँव गाँव के थे । उनके जीते जी कभी उनके गाँव–घर को देखने का मौका नहीं मिला । कवि सम्मेलनों में जानेवाले कवियों की जमात केबारे में प्रसिद्धि थी कि वह डाकुओं की भाँति शाम के धुंधलके में वारदात की जगह पहुँचती है और सुबह होने से पहले नगर छोड़ देती है । लोगों को कवियों के उस नगर मेंआने की सूचना अखबार की खबरों से ही मिलती थी । मैं भी उसी जमात का हिस्सा हुआ करता था, इसलिए जहाँ और जब सभी जाते, मैं भी जाता । उसमें कभी डुमरॉवजाने का प्रोग्राम नहीं बना , जबकि बनारस में महाकवि श्याम नारायण पाण्डेय , सूंड फैजाबादी, रूप नारायण त्रिपाठी, विकल साकेती आदि प्रायः मेरे घर आते रहते थे,क्योंकि बनारस कहीं भी जाने के लिए केन्द्र में हुआ करता था। सो, कई वर्षों से , बल्कि यों कहें कि पाण्डेय जी के 1991 में निधन के बाद से ही मेरे मन मेंडुमराँव जाने की दृढ़ इच्छा थी ,जो गत 4 दिसंबर को फलीभूत हुई ।
उस दिन सबेरे जब मैं ट्रेन से मऊ नाथ भंजन स्टेशन पर उतरा, तो मेरे साथ गीतकार राघवेन्द्र प्रताप सिंह थे, जो मऊ नगर के सीमावर्ती गाँव ताजोपुर के निवासीहैं और विभिन्न साहित्यिक समारोहों के माध्यम से उस क्षेत्र में पाण्डेय जी के नाम को जीवित रखने के लिए प्रयासरत हैं । स्टेशन से बाहर निकलते ही साहित्यिक पत्रिका `अभिनव कदम‘ के सम्पादक श्री जय प्रकाश `धूमकेतु‘ मिल गए । वे आजकल वर्धा विश्वविद्यालय में कार्यरत हैं और गाहेबगाहे अपने घर आ जाया करते हैं। उन्होंने अपनी

ने उन के परिवार की जिस दीनता का और महाकवि के प़ति उपेक्षा का वर्णन किया है वह खेदजनक है । उन की स्मृति को नमन ।

महाकवि श्याम नारायण पांडेय को मऊ शहर बहुत सिद्दत से धारण किए हमेशा गुनगुनाता दिखता है। यह उनका भी प्रभाव हो सकता है कि इस प्रक्षेत्र में गीतकारों की अच्छी-खासी तादाद हैं। इनमें कुछ तो खासा संवेदनशील गीत रच रहे हैं.. बुद्धिनाथ जी का यह लेख बहुत समीचिन.. उपलब्ध कराने के लिए 'जानकी पुल' का आभार..
